Chris Hope made 152 appearances for RDFC, scoring 11 goals and was almost ever-present between 2006-2009. However, he will always be fondly remembered by Diamonds fans for being one of the 170 fans who met at the Pemberton Centre in the summer of 2011, where the formation of AFC Rushden & Diamonds was agreed.
Hopey had just won promotion to Step 3 with St. Neots Town, but didn’t hesitate in dropping 3 levels to join AFC R&D in Step 6, becoming one of our first signings.
The then 39-year-old became Club Captain during the 2012/13 season, winning promotion to Step 5 whilst also winning the Players’ Player of the Season award.
Chris Hope has requested to play for AFC R&D on the day and he completes their squad.
