Mark Starmer will forever be written in to AFC Rushden & Diamonds history as the Club’s first manager.
The former RDFC Centre of Excellence and Youth Team manager was considered a bit of a coup when he agreed to join AFC R&D, when we only had an U18 team in the Northants Senior Youth League.
But Mark bought into the project and assembled the squad that took to the field against Thrapston Town in August 2012 for the Club’s first ever competitive game.
He led us to promotion in our first season alongside a great FA Vase run before work commitments ended his involvement with the Club prematurely.
But he’s back on Sunday 30th July to manage AFC R&D and many of his former players.
