Both AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Rushden & Higham United are pleased to announce that effective 1st April 2025, pitch maintenance at Hayden Road will become the responsibility of local company Premiership Lawncare, after both clubs agreed to utilise their services on an ongoing basis.
Premiership Lawncare offer domestic, commercial and landscaping services but specialise in sports pitch maintenance. They are a Northamptonshire FA Partner and have extensive experience in football pitch maintenance from the very top to the bottom. They have worked with Wellingborough Town at the Dog & Duck for a number of years and many other local clubs. The ultimate goal of both AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Rushden & Higham United is to elevate the quality of the pitch both next season, and year-on-year beyond that. Supporters can expect to see a marked improvement from pre-season onwards, and the costs of this will be split 50/50 between both clubs.
As supporters of both clubs may recall, it was decided last summer to trial a pitch maintenance team made up entirely of volunteers. It is an often thankless task carried out in unpleasant weather conditions and the amount of hours our volunteers have given up over the course of the last 9 months in support of this initiative runs in to many hundreds. The decision to trial a volunteer pitch maintenance schedule was ultimately taken as a cost saving measure and both clubs would like to place on record our sincerest thanks to the many volunteers that assisted with the pitch this season.
