The AFC Management team of Leanne Mayes and Katie Newman hope to have a full squad to choose from, and you can see squad profiles below.
Gemma Newson (Goalkeeper) – Gemma is one of three GB Deaf internationals who grace the Diamonds team. Gemma is tall and a good shot stopper.
Kerrie Cosham (Goalkeeper) – Kerrie is known as ‘Cosh’ and vies with Gemma for the starting place. Kerrie distributes the ball well.
Natasha Lowe (Full Back) – Tash is a Rushden girl and loves a tackle; she’s also a good passer of the ball and supports the attack well.
Elise Young – (Full Back) – Elise is an attacking full back who has added a bit of steel to her game as the season has progressed.
Emma Morris (Centre Back) – Emma is one of the more vocal players in the team, she reads the game very well, which ideal as she often plays as a sweeper.
Kerry Lawrence (Centre Back) – Kerry is a commanding centre back who likes to get the ball down and play. Kerry is a real threat from set pieces.
Alix Daverson (Full Back) – Alix is a young player who offers versatility to the squad, she can play on either side of the field and also further forward in midfield
Alex Bartlett (Midfield) – Alex is one of the strongest players on the team; she has good technique and can strike a ball well. Alex usually plays on the right hand side of the midfield
Fiona Strathern (Midfield) – Fiona is the team captain and leads by example. Very rarely does she misplace a pass and controls the midfield alongside Claire.
Claire Stancliffe (Midfield) – Claire is another of our GB Deaf international s and forms an influential centre midfield partnership with Fiona. Claire can also hit a wicked dead ball.
Kelly Rust (Midfield/Striker) – Kelly is equally at home in midfield or upfront. Lots of pace, a good first touch and an eye for goal are all part of Kelly’s game
Naomi Dwane (Midfield) – Naomi is a talented winger who adds a little something different to the team.
Cheryl Murkitt (Midfield) – Cheryl can play on either side of the field and her strength is the ability to bring others into the game.
Harriet Clarke (Midfield) – Harriett is also used mostly in a wide position, a bundle of energy she is equally at home supporting the forwards or helping out in defence.
Ashleigh Beale (Midfield) – Ashleigh can play anywhere in the midfield and, like most of the girls, passes the ball well.
Lauren Perkins (Midfield) – Another player who prefers to play in one of the wide positions on the pitch, Lauren is a threat going forward
April Malin (Striker) – April is the third of our GB Deaf internationals. Fast and skilful she makes every game a tough one for her opponents
Cat Sealey (Striker) – Cat has a remarkable 22 goals in 14 games this season, she reads the game very well and coupled with her pace and touch gets into lots of scoring positions.
Megan Watkins (Striker) – Megan weighs in with her fair share of goals and her running across opponents back line doesn’t give them time to settle.
Jenna Looker (Striker) – Jenna adds to the embarrassment of riches up front and very rarely will she miss a one on one.
