The draw for the initial round of the Emirates FA Cup was made at FA Headquarters on 8th July. AFC Rushden & Diamonds were drawn to host Leighton Town or Northampton Sileby Rangers in the Preliminary Round, with the tie due to be played on Saturday 20th August. The competition starts a fortnight earlier with the extra-preliminary round, where the Diamonds opponents will be decided. That game has now been played, with Northampton Sileby Rangers winning 2-1, so they will face the Diamonds on 20th August. The winner of the tie will host Aveley or AFC Hornchurch in the First Qualifying Round.
