AFC Rushden & Diamonds Ladies are Pleased to Announce Their First Signing, Claire Stancliffe, Claire joins the team having played for Cogenhoe and Kingsthorpe Ladies and Kettering Town Ladies, Claire has also played for the England and Great Britain Deaf women’s football squad for the past 5 years representing both teams at World Deaf Championships 2008, Deaflympics 2009, European Deaf Football Championships 2011 and World Deaf Futsal Championships 2011. She is currently aiming to be selected for GB to attend the Deaflympics 2013 held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
In a Interview with AFC Claire spoke about what it meant for her to join a team like AFC Rushden & Diamonds Ladies, Claire “As soon as I heard AFC Rushden and Diamonds were creating a ladies team I knew I wanted to sign for them. It’s a fantastic community club and the set up is to a high standard. It provides a fresh challenge for me especially as I have an exciting year coming up with preparing for the Deaflympics 2013. Preseason has been going really well and we have recruited some quality players. I can’t wait to play our first friendly and I am looking forward to a very successful season with them.”
