AFC Rushden & Diamonds are pleased to announce that trialist Jack Maltby-Smith has signed first-team forms ahead of the new season.
The 17-year-old midfielder/forward, who provided the assist for Rhys Thorpe’s goal in Saturday’s friendly, is currently part of Peterborough United’s Football Education Programme. Having impressed Manager Elliot Sandy with his performances in both training and pre-season matches, Jack has earned his place in the first-team squad.
Should Jack go on to make his first-team debut, we believe he would become the first player to progress from the AFC Rushden & Diamonds Community Youth Section to represent the Club’s first team. If we’re mistaken, we’re more than happy to be corrected!
