20/05/26: AFC Rushden & Diamonds are delighted to confirm the signing of 28-year-old striker Rhys Thorpe from St Neots Town, becoming our first new signing of the summer ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Rhys arrives at Hayden Road after an impressive spell with The Saints, where he established himself as a consistent attacking threat and a proven goalscorer, scoring 54 goals in 108 games since arriving in the Autumn of 2023, including once against the Diamonds in our league fixture at Rowley Park last season.

Prior to his time with St. Neots Town, Rhys had goal-laden spells with Eynesbury United, Eaton Socon and Eynesbury Rovers. The striker enjoyed a standout campaign during St Neots Town’s promotion from Step 5, hitting over 30 goals and delivering important performances in big moments.

Known for his all-action style of play, Thorpe hit the headlines with a number of eye-catching displays last season, including a second-half hat-trick away at Coventry Sphinx, and Diamonds have fought off interest from a number of clubs to secure his signature.
