AFC Rushden & Diamonds U18s / Malcolm Arnold Academy claimed their second league win of the season with an empathic 9-1 against bottom of the league Romford Reds.
The scholars were on the road once again, after progressing through to the 4th Round of the English Schools’ Trophy on Friday, with a 5-2 victory over North Oxfordshire Academy.
But the MAA boy hadn’t won in the league in their last three matches. A draw and two losses had seen Darren Purse’s side drop to mid table. But after a comfortable victory on Wednesday, the scholars move into the top four after five games.
Midfielder Tom Craddock scored a hat-trick as goals from Christy Nginamu (2), Luke Garner (2), James Masterperio and Matt Pinder helped the scholars to a comfortable victory.
Full Time: Romford Reds 1-9 AFC Rushden & Diamonds / MAA.
Next up for the U18s is a visit to top-of-the-league Braintree Town who will provide a stern test of Purse’s boys.
