17/06/26: AFC Rushden & Diamonds are delighted to announce the signing of James Clifton from local rivals Wellingborough Town.

A serial winner with three promotions to his name, Clifton is a versatile addition to the squad, capable of operating in both midfield and attacking positions. James has spent the last few years primarily with Spalding United prior to a brief spell with the Doughboys, and has previously played alongside Diamonds manager Elliot Sandy at three separate clubs. He has also represented Brackley Town and Nuneaton with distinction throughout his career.

Speaking about his sixth signing of the summer, Diamonds manager Elliot Sandy said: “Cliffy is a real coup for the Club. He has played most of his career at a higher level and is a born winner. I truly believe that if we can get the best out of him, he is one of the best players in the league.”

James Clifton will be available to sponsor when Player Sponsorships open in July.
