20/03/23: AFC Rushden & Diamonds are delighted to announce the signing of 20-year-old Will Glennon on a dual-registration basis from United Counties League Premier Division South side Bugbrooke St. Michaels. Equally capable as a central defender or central midfielder, Will has scored an incredible 25 goals in 33 games at Step 5 so far this season for Bugbrooke. A product of the AFC Rushden & Diamonds academy system, Glennon rejoins the Diamonds having departed in the summer of 2021 to pursue first team opportunities after appearing in pre-season friendlies for the Club. Manager Chris Nunn was thrilled to get a long-term target over the line before this Thursday’s registration deadline: “I’ve been watching Will’s progress for some time and I’m delighted we’ve been able to get our man at last. His record speaks for itself, to score so many goals primarily from central defence is incredible really particularly this early in his career. Some Diamonds fans will already be familiar with him from his Academy days but he’s a big strong lad, a presence in both boxes and he’s flexible which is a major plus for me. I’d like to thank the guys at Bugbrooke for helping us with this and not standing in Will’s way. Having positive relationships with local clubs is really important to both myself and the Club, you never know when you might need each other.”
Will Glennon goes straight into the Diamonds’ squad for tomorrow’s Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central fixture at Bromsgrove Sporting.
14/06/23: We are thrilled to confirm that Will Glennon has committed to the Club for the 2023/24 season.
10/10/23: The Club can confirm this evening that Will Glennon has opted to leave the Club to pursue an opportunity at a higher level. Will joined the Diamonds back in March and contributed greatly to our positive form during the final months of last season. The AFC Rushden & Diamonds Academy graduate made 18 appearances since rejoining the Club from Bugbrooke St. Michaels, scoring twice. Manager Chris Nunn commented on Will’s departure: “There’s been a lot of interest in Will, both during this season and in the summer. We’ve been in constant communication over the past week or so and I’ve done my best to convince him to remain with us, but the opportunity to take a step up is one he didn’t feel he could turn down. He goes with our best wishes, he’s a great lad and I’ve enjoyed working with him. He knows the door is open for him here if things don’t work out.”
26/10/23: Will was dual-registered for the Diamonds’ home match against Rugby Town on Saturday, 28th October.
