22/07/22: AFC Rushden & Diamonds are delighted to confirm that 18-year-old centre forward Jenson Cooper has signed Southern League forms for the 2022/23 season. A product of Shrewsbury Town’s academy, Jenson has impressed in pre-season, with goals against Stamford AFC and Cogenhoe United so far. Andy Burgess commented: “Jenson has been with us since the start of pre-season after his release from Shrewsbury Town and we’ve been so pleased with what we’ve seen from him and are delighted he’s put pen to paper with us. When we did work on him during the close season we were extremely excited not only by his goal scoring abilities, but his movement, pace and power and effectiveness at the top end of the pitch. Looking at him, it’s easy to think he’s a lot older than he is, but having only just turned 18 he is someone we are looking forward to working with and developing within the Club and allowing him the platform in senior football.
